Building a Better
Suit...

With the aid of several electronic instruments and a
personal computer, Chasnoff is able to take more than 60 measurements of
your body with an accuracy within 1,000th of an inch. A heighth device is
attached to the wall. An electronic tape measure, housed in a small metal
box, takes standard body measurements, and a hand-held device, resembling
a slide rule, measures the distances and angles so critical to a perfectly
fitting piece of clothing.

Using the measurements from the instruments, a
software program then generates a pattern and cuts the fabric with guided
lasers. These pieces are then sent to some of the finest sewing shops in
the world, where they are meticulously sewn together into the final
product.

Chasnoff maintains the tradition of home and office
fittings and wardrobe consulting. Elegance, he feels, does not depend on
ornamentation, but on the cut and fit. Another irony is that custom
apparel, with all its individuality, quality, styling and durability, is
often less expensive than off-the-rack garments. "In everyone's closet
there are probably one or two suits that never get worn," says Chasnoff.
"These are the most expensive suits anyone could possibly have. There's a
high probability clients will wear the suits we build because they look
good, they feel good, and that makes them do their job better. Personal
expression, whether it be a fine wine, a fine automobile, or a fine suit -
that's what it's all about."
